Omniterra vs Storenest: what a 3% transaction fee really costs

Both platforms let you open a store for €0 a month. The difference shows up as you sell more: Storenest adds a percentage to every transaction, while Omniterra charges 0% commission and a flat monthly price. Here is where the lines cross.

Short answer

Storenest and Omniterra both have a plan that costs nothing per month. According to the Storenest pricing page, all three public plans (Starter, Premium and Ultimate) include a 3% fee per transaction. Omniterra charges 0% commission on every plan, including Free, and uses flat monthly prices instead.

If your store sells very little, a percentage fee can be the cheaper model, because you pay only when you sell. Once monthly sales reach a few thousand euros, 3% usually costs more than a flat subscription. The worked example below shows where that happens.

What 3% costs at different sales levels

The table below applies Storenest's 3% fee to monthly sales and compares it with our flat prices. It leaves out card processing for both platforms. On Omniterra, card payments run through your own Stripe account and Stripe charges its own fees. On Storenest, ask them whether the 3% includes card processing or comes on top of it.

A store selling €2,000 a month

On Storenest Starter, the fee is €60 a month, or €720 a year. On Omniterra, the answer depends on your order count. With an average order of €50, that is 40 orders, which fits inside the Free plan's 50 orders a month, so the platform costs €0/month. With smaller baskets and more orders, the Start plan at €29/month still costs less than €60.

A store selling €6,000 a month

Here the fee on Storenest Starter is €180 a month, or €2,160 a year. On Premium, with faster support, it is €269 a month. On Omniterra, the same store would pick Start or Grow depending on catalog size and team, with unlimited orders on both. The subscription stays the same whether you sell €6,000 or €7,000 that month.

A store selling €20,000 a month

At this level, 3% is €600 a month, or €7,200 a year. Even our Advanced plan, at €199/month, with unlimited products and 15 staff accounts, costs less than that. The point is simple: a flat fee does not grow with your revenue, and a percentage always does.

When Storenest costs less

Be fair to the model: at low volume, 3% is small. A store selling €500 a month pays €15 in fees on Storenest Starter. If that store has more than 50 orders a month, for example many low-priced items, our Free plan's soft limit will ask it to upgrade to Start, and €29/month is more than €15. Seasonal stores that sell only a few months a year may also prefer a fee that drops to zero in quiet months.

Features that matter for Romanian and EU merchants

Storenest's page says that all platform features are included on every plan, so compare the list below with what you need. On Omniterra, these are available for Romanian stores:

  • Cash on delivery with rules: turn it on or off by rule, add a COD fee, and track "refused at delivery" separately from "delivered". An optional fraud-protection add-on gives a risk score and a phone blacklist.
  • Romanian couriers: record the AWB and courier (Sameday, FAN Courier, Cargus, DPD, GLS, Poșta Română) and send the customer a tracking link.
  • Invoices: VAT and company tax ID (CUI) on B2B orders, continuous numbering, PDF. For e-Factura, you connect an authorized provider such as SmartBill or Oblio through webhooks.
  • Legal basics: the ANPC SAL link in the footer and default terms, returns (14 days), shipping and privacy pages.
  • Admin in English and Romanian, custom domain with automatic SSL.

Our guide to cash on delivery best practices covers the COD side in more detail.

Beyond price: what Omniterra adds

  • Shopify import and compatibility: full import from Shopify (products, customers, orders, pages, redirects and more) and from WooCommerce, the same URL pattern as Shopify, and a Shopify-compatible Admin API, so many Shopify tools connect with little or no change.
  • AI connector for Claude: connect Claude and let it edit themes and products on a draft that you review and publish.
  • Automations: a visual builder with triggers, conditions and actions.
  • Sales channels: product feeds and pixels for Meta (with the Conversions API), Google, TikTok and Pinterest.
  • Dropshipping: CJ Dropshipping and XML/CSV supplier feeds.
  • Email marketing campaigns and a drag-and-drop theme editor.

Where Storenest is the better choice

  • Unlimited products on every plan, including the free Starter. Our Free plan stops at 250 products and our Start plan at 1,000.
  • Every feature on every plan, per its pricing page, so you do not need to upgrade to unlock a tool.
  • Clear support tiers: email with a 48-hour response on Starter, chat and email within 4 hours on Premium, and a dedicated manager with phone support within 1 hour on Ultimate.
  • Very low or seasonal sales, where paying only when you sell is cheaper than a monthly fee.

How to switch

Omniterra imports automatically from Shopify and WooCommerce. There is no direct importer from Storenest, so plan the move: export your product list, recreate collections, and add 301 redirects from your old URLs so search engines follow you. Our guide on migrating without losing SEO walks through the steps.

Frequently asked questions

Does Storenest charge a transaction fee on paid plans too?

Yes. Its pricing page lists 3% per transaction on Starter, Premium (€89/month) and Ultimate (€699/month). See storenest.io/cijene for current terms.

Does Omniterra take a commission on sales?

No. Omniterra charges 0% commission on every plan, including Free. Card payments go through your own Stripe account, which charges its own processing fees, and couriers may charge their own cash-on-delivery fee.

At what sales level does a flat plan beat a 3% fee?

At €2,000 a month, 3% is €60, which is already more than our Start plan at €29/month. Below roughly €1,000 a month, a 3% fee can cost less than a paid plan.

What happens if I go over 50 orders on the Free plan?

It is a soft limit. Order number 51 and later are still accepted, and you are asked to upgrade to a paid plan with unlimited orders.
